Questions about official Michigan criminal records must go to the government office that keeps the requested file. Michigan Criminal History is a private reference resource, not a records custodian. The routes below identify the relevant statewide system or direct readers to the appropriate local office among Michigan's 83 counties.

This Is Not a Government Office. Michigan Criminal History cannot retrieve an official record, perform an official check, correct repository data, or accept a set-aside filing. Contact the government agency that owns the record for those services.

Need an Official Record?

Use the Michigan route that matches the record:

  • State criminal history and personal record review: contact the Michigan State Police Criminal Justice Information Center
  • Court case files: use Michigan court case lookup or contact the district or circuit court clerk that holds the case
  • County jail, booking, and local court records: locate the responsible agency through the Michigan county directory
  • State custody, supervision, and registry status: use Michigan Department of Corrections OTIS for corrections information or the Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry for public registry data
  • Police and incident reports: send a Michigan FOIA request to the police agency, sheriff, campus department, or MSP unit that created the report
  • Set-aside filings: file with the Michigan court of conviction and follow the current court and MSP instructions
